YouTube Tuesday – Creating MAMA HATED DIESELS

For today’s YouTube Tuesday, Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman talk about how they created the world premiere musical, Mama Hated Deisels, a rambunctious musical portrait of America’s long-distance truckers.  The first preview performance, which is also the $10 Student Night, is on Friday!

Bryce Baldwin grew up taking classes at the Denver Center Theatre Academy and performed in the DCTC’s mainstage productions of A Christmas Carol and Richard III. He is now performing as “Michael Banks” in the national Broadway tour of Mary Poppins, produced by Disney and Cameron Mackintosh. We caught up with Bryce at his farm in Thorton, Colorado before he began his seven-month tour:

It’s Texas Independence Day AND the first Tuesday of March, which means it’s time for a new episode of “10 Minutes to Curtain”!

LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL is finally in Denver!  Bend and Snap!  And now, we present you with two videos from members of this stellar cast.  First, Rhiannon Hansen, who plays Margot, tells us about the fashion in the show, talking to dogs, and why Legally Blonde makes a great date.

Explore Backstage on “10 Minutes to Curtain”!

It’s Groundhog Day AND the first Tuesday of February,  which means it’s time for a new episode of “10 Minutes to Curtain”!

 

This month, Charlie explains why he’s only had time to make 2.5 Minutes to Curtain (hint: it has to do with his work on the new production of When Tang Met Laika). One Book One Broomfield

EVENTIDE, a companion piece to Plainsong which premiered at The Denver Center in 2008, starts Friday in The Stage Theatre.  The play is based on Kent Haruf’s novel about a fictional town on the eastern planes of Colorado.  This year, Eventide was selected as part of the “One Book One Broomfield” series.  Here, Broomfield Mayor Patrick Quinn welcomes Eventide author Kent Haruf to talk about his novel:

It’s George Washington’s 251st wedding anniversary AND the first Tuesday of January, which means it’s time for a new episode of “10 Minutes to Curtain”

 

The Denver Center celebrates the New Year with the opening of two world premiere productions; this month, Charlie gives you a behind-the-scenes look at both shows. Meet NASA astronaut Bruce McCandless, who talks with the cast of WHEN TANG MET LAIKA about life in zero gravity, and hear from the cast and creative team of EVENTIDE as they revisit familiar characters. Then, look back on five years of the COLORADO NEW PLAY SUMMIT and don’t miss the auditions for the coveted role of Laika the dog.

LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE in Denver!

Little House on the Prairie, starring Melissa Gilbert as “Ma”, opens tonight in The Buell Theatre!  In celebration of the opening, we’ve brought you a couple YouTube videos about the show.
